With over 1 million residents condensed into a small coastal area, the city of Honolulu faces challenges of traffic congestion and urban sprawl. While they already use GIS to help manage their city, they needed to find a way to evaluate the potential impact of various public transit design scenarios. In this presentation from the 2012 Esri User Conference, the mayor of Hawaii shares how they use CityEngine to design and evaluate a potential elevated rail system.  Singapore in Southeast Asia is at once an island, a city, and a country. With 5 million people condensed into 700 square kilometers, space is at a premium. Development of housing, transportation, and commerce requires careful planning. In this presentation from the 2014 Esri User Conference, delegates from Singapore's Urban Redevelopment Authority share how they use CityEngine to plan new communities and allocate land use. They have developed localized planning rules according to their unique requirements, and they can use CityEngine to adjust buildings according to those rules on the fly.
