Boston Marathon
ArcGIS GeoEvent Server feeds real-time data into the Boston Marathon Dashboard, ensuring safety and situational awareness. More than 30,000 runners and a half a million spectators turn up each year for the Boston Marathon. Before the start of the race, each runner is given a tracker and correlating number to wear on their shoe. The tracker clocks time and location at mats placed every five kilometers along the course. That information is pushed into a feature service using ArcGIS GeoEvent Server to keep accurate data streaming into the Boston Marathon Dashboard.


Seattle Police Department
The Seattle Police Department created a high-tech crime center to help officers, investigators, and analysts rapidly respond to and solve crimes more efficiently and effectively. The center features a massive mounted wall display that updates every 6 seconds and includes information on active 911 calls using ArcGIS GeoEvent Server. Analysts monitor incoming data and report relevant spikes and trends to commanders nearly 24 hours a day. They use this information to decide how to best deploy resources and aid officers on the ground to different incidents in real time.


The complexity and size of the Port of Long Beach make security operations especially challenging. Adding ArcGIS to existing systems substantially increased the port’s ability to monitor and analyze its operations. ArcGIS GeoEvent Server is used to display dynamic services and feeds, such as asset or automatic identification system vessel tracking. Rule-based alerts are built into GeoEvent which provides instant notifications to port personnel when certain conditions occur such as a vessel coming within the designated radius of a restricted area.
